Well Dweller: how long to beat
Well Dweller's developer estimate is 10–14 hours for a normal run across 15 biomes and 13 bosses — and the 41-achievement ladder shows exactly where runs slow down and stop.
The official numbers
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| How long to beat | 10–14 hours (developer estimate) |
| World size | 15 biomes |
| Bosses | 13 |
| Achievements | 41 |
| Difficulty | Easy, normal and hard, plus accessibility toggles |
That estimate comes from the developer's own material, not from review-site guesses. The achievement percentages below are Steam global rates (checked October 7, 2026) and describe how real runs actually go.
Where runs slow down
| Beat | Achievement rate |
|---|---|
| Read a storybook page | 92.2% |
| Beat the first boss (Groundskeeper) | 87.5% |
| Buy a trinket | 83.7% |
| Return your first Spirit | 81.9% |
| Beat the Queen (first encounter) | 56.2% |
| Collect all 32 trinkets | 36.4% |
| Upgrade all 32 trinkets | 28.4% |
The drop from 87.5% to 36.4% is the real shape of the game: almost everyone starts, a third finish the collection layer. If you are slow in the middle, you are in the majority — the middle is where the map opens up and the trinket layer starts demanding detours.
The completionist math
41 achievements, and the rarest ones say what a 100% run costs:
- 32 trinkets (36.4%) and 32 trinket upgrades (28.4%) — the collection layer at full depth.
- Full Flock — all 20 Spirits (34.7%); 20 Spirits alone is already down to 37.0%.
- 50 slots (45.4%) — the equipment-capacity achievement; one late-game story gate asks for 80 slots, so the slot grind keeps going past the achievement.
- Juggle (25.7%) — the rarest achievement in the set.
Character progression (the numbered achievements from Groundskeeper to the late bosses) stays above 35%, which tells you the main path is friendlier than the side content.
What changes your estimate
- Difficulty: easy, normal and hard are all on the store page — a hard run is the same content with tighter fights, not extra hours of grinding.
- Death costs nothing. Currency is kept on death, so exploration detours do not tax your run — the trinket economy rewards wandering.
- Spirits and trials are optional depth. The Full Flock chain (20 Spirits) hands over trinkets along the way — skipping them shortens the run and thins the collection (collectibles and trials).
Quick answers
Is 10–14 hours accurate? It is the developer's estimate for a normal run; a 100% cleanup push typically lands well past that, judging by the rarest-achievement rates.
How long is a 100% run? No official figure exists. The three 30%-and-under achievements (32 upgrades, Full Flock, Juggle) are the ones to budget for.
Does difficulty add playtime? It changes fight pressure, not content — the developer lists no separate hard-mode campaign.
