Well Dweller trinkets guide
Trinkets are Well Dweller's equipment layer: collectible items that grant passive perks, bought with the currency you earn from combat and challenges, or earned from puzzles and trials. Because they change how Glimmer plays rather than just adding numbers, they are the main build decision in the game.
Confirmed trinket effects (launch-week sources)
These effects are explicitly described in launch-week reviews. Exact percentage values are still being verified from gameplay — we list effects, not invented numbers.
| Effect | What it does | Playstyle it suits |
|---|---|---|
| Low-health damage boost | Increases damage when your health is low | Aggressive risk-takers who intentionally fight at ember-flame health |
| Auto oil vial | Automatically refills health with one of your limited oil vials when it gets too low | Safety net — the pick for boss attempts |
| Spikes below 25% health | Surrounds Glimmer with spikes when health drops below 25% | Punishes enemies that hug you |
| Full-health damage boost | Deals more damage at full health | Confident play that avoids hits |
| Hidden passages visible | Makes breakable walls and hidden passages show up on screen | Exploration and completion runs |

How to get trinkets
Three confirmed sources:
- Buy them with currency. Reviews state currency is spent on trinkets at shops — and that dying never costs you currency, so grinding is safe.
- Earn them from puzzles and trials. Many trinkets are tied to puzzles or the game's challenge rooms, "making discovering them feel rewarding rather than simply checking another collectible off a list".
- Challenge rewards. Time trials (10–20 second platforming gauntlets) and no-hit death match challenges pay extra currency, which feeds back into buying trinkets.
Build advice for day one
- First playthrough: take the auto oil vial if you find it — it automates healing during boss attempts, and bosses are the demo's difficulty flashpoint.
- Exploration runs: hidden-passage visibility pairs with the game's breakable walls and secret rooms, so swap it on before sweeping an area you already beat.
- Damage routing: full-health damage and low-health damage are opposites; pick one and commit, since switching between them mid-combat wastes the window.
What we are still verifying
- The complete trinket roster and each trinket's exact unlock location.
- Numeric values (how much damage, what threshold in percent beyond the confirmed 25% spike case).
- Whether trinkets can be bought back if sold.
